Wings of Hope is proud to say that 100% of all funds raised go
directly to help with children’s needs.
These funds have:
- Assisted in developing WingsNet, a program to assist teens “aging
out of the system” as they turn 18
- Provided vans for the children’s transportation
- Completed many home renovations such as new furniture, carpeting,
tile, bathrooms, painting, etc.
- Installed a security system to watch over at-risk infants and
toddlers while they are resting
- Replaced air conditioners, driveways, roofing
- Installed playgrounds, basketball courts, and a volleyball court
- Provided scholarships to children continuing their education
- Obtained Christmas gifts for teens who are often forgotten during
the holidays
Honors We’ve Earned
The Points
of Light Foundation, Washington D.C., awarded the Wings
of Hope Foundation with the Daily Points of Light Award for November
30, 2000. "The Daily Points of Light Award honors an
individual or organization that makes a positive and lasting difference
in the lives of others. Originally instituted during the administration
of President George Bush, the program was reinstated on January
1, 1998 by the Points of Light Foundation, the Corporation for
National Service and the Knights of Columbus."
In
2001 the Orange
County Bar Association presented their annual Liberty Bell
Award to the Wings of Hope Foundation in recognition of the
work being done to help needy children in Central Florida.
Children's Home Society renamed
its residential home for boys "Brian's House" in honor
of all those who support the Wings of Hope Foundation. Brian's House
is an eight-bed, 24-hour home for teenage boys who've been abused,
neglected or abandoned.
Girls & Boys Town of Central Florida dedicated part of
its new Emergency Children's Shelter as the "Wings of Hope Nursery" in honor of all
the Wings of Hope Foundation supporters for providing cribs, dressers and other
equipment for the infants and toddlers. The Wings of Hope Nursery
can shelter six infants and toddlers who were abused, neglected or
abandoned.
In 2000, the United
Way of Volusia - Flagler Counties recognized the Wings
of Hope Foundation as First Place, Outstanding Civic Organization
for our significant volunteer service to the community.
Children's Home Society elected Wings
of Hope their Volunteer
of the Year for 2001 and 2003. |
