Feature Child
Kara was only 10 years old and yet she was living in the woods with her parents. She was sexually and physically abused, in poor health and had severely impaired vision. It had been a long time since she last attended school and even longer since she last slept in a bed. Her days were filled with fear and confusion. Where do you turn when the people you were supposed to rely on for safety and security were the ones hurting you?
Kara and her brother were taken from their parents by the courts and placed in the care of Boys Town of Central Florida. Here they received medical care and counseling. Not only were they provided food and a bed to sleep in, but Kara received her first pair of glasses. She was amazed at how different the world looked to her and in awe that she could feel safe and loved. She has a very long road to healing and learning to trust, and will receive intensive and long-term counseling but at last she’s started the journey.
Sadly, Kara is only one of the many abused, neglected and abandoned children that need our help. On their behalf, we thank you for your support and generosity. Please continue to pray that all children have: Wings – the strength of an eagle, the guidance of an angel, the new life of a butterfly and Hope – the opportunities they need to make their lives better.
